What is Forex Trading

Forex trading, short for foreign exchange (FX) trading, is the process of buying and selling currencies in the foreign exchange market with the aim of profiting from fluctuations in currency exchange rates. The forex market is one of the largest and most liquid financial markets in the world, where participants can trade a wide range of currency pairs, such as EUR/USD (Euro/US Dollar) or USD/JPY (US Dollar/Japanese Yen).

In forex trading, traders speculate on the future direction of exchange rates. They can go long, which means buying a currency pair with the expectation that its value will increase, or they can go short, selling a currency pair with the expectation that its value will decrease. The profit or loss in forex trading is determined by the difference between the purchase price (bid) and the selling price (ask) of the currency pair.

How to Trade Forex?

Forex traders use various analysis methods, including technical analysis, which involves studying price charts and patterns, and fundamental analysis, which considers economic, political, and financial factors that influence currency movements. Risk management is crucial in forex trading, as it can be highly volatile and leveraged, meaning traders can control a larger position size with a relatively small amount of capital, but this also increases the potential for both gains and losses. Successful forex trading requires a solid understanding of the market, trading strategies, and risk management techniques

What is Share Trading

Share trading in the forex market involves buying and selling shares of publicly listed companies within the foreign exchange market. Unlike traditional stock markets, where shares are traded on specific exchanges, forex allows traders to engage in share trading across different global currencies.

In this dynamic environment, traders can speculate on the price movements of shares and take advantage of fluctuations in currency values. When price rises, shares can be sold to generate a profit. Traders can diversify their portfolios and capitalize on the interplay between currency pairs and stock prices.

Traders can utilize various strategies, including technical and fundamental analysis, to make informed decisions about when to buy or sell shares in different currencies. Successful share trading in the forex market requires a deep understanding of both stock market dynamics and currency movements, as well as a keen awareness of global economic events that may impact share prices.

What is Stock Cfd's Trading?

Dividend Adjustments for Stock CFDs:
Stock CFDs are subject to dividend adjustments. When a company distributes dividends to its shareholders, it effectively reduces the company's value by the distributed amount. This reduction is reflected in a lower share price at the market's opening on the ex-dividend date, the day when the company's stock begins trading without the dividend's value.

CFD holders don't have ownership of the underlying stock, but they are affected by share price reductions. To ensure that trading positions are unaffected, a dividend adjustment is made before the market opens for clients holding CFD positions in stocks.

The trading hours for each stock can be found in the table above.

HOW TO TRADE STOCK CFD's?

Buy trades will receive an adjustment calculated as follows:
Dividend Adjustment = Declared stock dividend x Position size in shares
Sell trades will incur an adjustment calculated as follows:
Dividend Adjustment = Declared stock dividend x Position size in shares

Due to new tax regulations under U.S. section 871 (m), non-U.S. residents with accounts held in UK Ltd. are subject to withholding tax on dividend adjustment payments similarly to non-U.S. holders of actual U.S. dividends. For each adjustment for an in-scope position, we calculate the dividend adjustment and apply a 30% withholding rate (or less, based on applicable treaty rates). Affected clients are required to complete a W-8BEN form to continue or initiate trading on in-scope instruments.

What is Equity Indices Trading?

Dividend Adjustments on Cash Indices Cash Index CFDs are influenced by dividend adjustments. When an index constituent issues dividends to its shareholders, it effectively reduces the company's value by the dividend's amount. This reduction reflects in the company's share price on the ex-dividend date, and also indirectly impacts the index value proportionally, according to the stock's weight within the index.

To shield positions from these effects, dividend adjustments will be applied to clients' accounts who hold an index position at 00:00 (GMT+2 time zone, accounting for potential DST changes) on the ex-dividend date. The adjustment occurs prior to the market opening (check market hours above).

Dividend adjustments on long positions are credited after accounting for any relevant withholding taxes, the amount of which may vary depending on the underlying instrument. Short positions are not subject to withholding tax.

It's worth noting that CFDs on Germany40 (DE#ACoash) do not undergo dividend adjustments because constituent stocks' dividends are reinvested within the index itself, preventing any downward adjustments due to dividend payments.
